Position Title: Novell GroupWise Server Support Specialist
Location: Albany, New York
Job Description:
A NYS agency is searching for a Novell GroupWise Server Support technician to ensure the high-availability of the agency’s mission critical email, directory synchronization, file and print services as well as provide technical guidance and support to employees statewide. Some additional responsibilities include:
- Work with the IT staff to support Novell Server environment including Novell clustering utilizing IBM 8100 Storage Area Network (SAN), distributed EMC SAN, GroupWise email administration, Novell eDirectory configuration and business continuity.
- Provide technical design, implementation and troubleshooting support for the Novell File and Print services, Novell OES Linus/Suse Linux
- Support over 100 Novell Netware servers that support the core office automation functions of email, file and printer for over 16,000 users including over 30 remote sites.
- Technical advisement, system integration and support for migrating Novell netware file/print and GroupWise clustered servers to Novell OES Linux clustered servers.
- Design, implement and troubleshoot archiving aged user email from current GroupWise system to SAN storage using NEXIC Discovery software.
- Ongoing support to Blackberry users and web-based email system, enhancements utilizing Novell’s Identity Manager for Directory synchronization between eDirectory and Active Directory.
Skills Required :
Candidates must have experience with the following:
- At least 5 years of Novell GroupWise account creation and administration at the 6.x level or higher
- At least 2 years of experience with Novell eDirectory and MS Active Directory synchronization
- At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- At least 4 years of experience with troubleshooting (Novell clustering, user login issues, permissions, client/server access, network printers)
- At least 3 years of Novell Cluster services
- At least 2 years of experience with OES Linux/SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
- At least 2 years of proficiency with NDPS/iPrint network printing
- 3 years of knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of end-user training materials, as well as technical writing and developing administrator standards.
- Excellent English language written and verbal communications are a must!
Skills Preferred:
The following skills are desired, but not mandatory:
- Knowledge of Biscom, Caminosoft, Nexic, Blackberry Enterprise Server
- Project Management skills
- Experience with HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrated experience with health related and/or large governmental organizations
